In Brive, where I am living, the observation of the partial Sun eclipse was a failure once more.
The reason was : too many clouds.
The Sun was visible for only a quarter of an hour, just before the beginning of the eclipse.
Did someone else succeed in this observation ?

A partial Moon eclipse will occur on next Saturday August 16th 2008.

Beginning : 19 h 36 min (UT) ; the Moon begins to enter the shadow of the Earth.

Maximum : 21 h 10 min (UT) ; 81 %.

End : 22 h 44 min (UT) ; the Moon is out of the shadow.

I think that the beginning of the eclipse will not be visible from Sätila, maybe nor from Birmingham.

That doesn’t matter :

If possible, French, English and Swedish pupils and teachers could
try to take pictures, and to magnify them as much as possible, with
several exposure times.

So you could use them in order to do the work that French pupils presented in Sätilaskolan on Wednesday the 28th of May 2008 :

“how to estimate the true diameter of the Moon and the true distance between the Moon and the Earth”.

NB : remember that a lot of contrast is required on the pictures, for that work.
